  1. It takes *open* MAILxIDX.XRS and SUMMARYx.XRS files and sorts them by date
  2. within subject within AREA: and rewrites the two files.  It also rechains
  3. the threading pointers completely, and even adds them if there were none!

  5. IT DOES NOT WORK WITH ANY VERSION OF XRS BEFORE 4.52!  (SINCE IT REARRANGES
  6. MAILxIDX.XRS AND SUMMARYx.XRS FILES, IT MAKES THEM UNUSABLE BY PRE-4.52!)

  8. This can be made the 'default' by using the new "PreProcess XRS-Sort.Exe"
  9. parameter.  See "CONFIG.NEW" and/or "NEWIN452.DOC" for exact details.  If
  10. you like threading and want XRS to follow threads by default (i.e. after
  11. quoting, etc), this should be used instead of "Sort Subject" since XRS
  12. defaults to reading the next message in the current filter selection (i.e.
  13. "To You" and/or "New Only" and/or "Select Area").  If you do enable this
  14. parameter "Sort Subject" is obsolete - *remove* it from your CONFIG.XRS!

  16. The current method will only sort a mailbag if it contains 7500 messages
  17. or less! (sometimes less if you have less memory available).
  18.  
  19. You *should* end up with a mailbag that is fully sorted by subject within
  20. each area, complete with threading, and the "<N>ext" default movement will
  21. always take you to the next message in the thread or the next topic...
